Understanding By Design Part 1

  1. I am really enjoying reading general ed classroom lessons, its something that I have little experience with, being a PE teacher. I can easily pick this up and have an understanding on how one is suppose to do this lesson. My crtique would be on the wording of you essential questions. Instead of do students enjoy what they read, what about saying "What readings do students enjoy?" and expanded on it with the "how do we know" The only thing I would polish is some of the formatting: your spacing changes and knowledge and skills are not on the same level. Good Job!

    I think your lesson is something which I am very interested and would love to be a student for. It's a good tool for teachers to use to help them better support and track their students reading and comprehension development. I'm curious about what else the Accelerated Reader program offers as you mention in the overarching enduring understanding that reading should be enjoyable. Is this reflected from the program or is this understanding something that supports the reasoning to why teachers should use this program.
    Your essential questions are good as it makes the teachers think critically about their students however you may also want the teacher to also think critically about themselves through using the accelerated program. So possibly elaborating more on the third question.
